...what a cute Christmas gift. Love this!!

1. Start with a Half Pint Canning Jar. (these are the Better Homes & Gardens Brand from Wal-Mart...I love the top)

2. Fill it with Mini-Marshmallows

3. Make the Brim of the Hat using Black Paper or Fabric (it should be stiff though, so use Cardstock or Construction Paper or Felt) The most difficult part of this whole project...sizing the brim. Basically it's a circle with a center Circle cut out of the middle that just fits over the open rim of the jar but isn't big enough that once you slip it over the [?], it will be flimsy. So just slightly smaller than the lid cover.
Different jars will have different openings, so once you find that perfect balance, just use that as your pattern!

4. Cut a piece of black ribbon to wrap around the lid of the jar...to complete the top-hat look.

5. Give that man a face! I used Puffy Paints, but regular acrylic craft paint works too.

6. You can stop here if you'd like. And gift your little snowman with a couple bags of hot chocolate. Everything up to this step, including ALL materials cost me ~$2.50 per gift set to make 12.

7. Thanks to my new friend, Amy...there can be MORE to this Snowman...take another jar and fill it with Hot Cocoa Mix. (I didn't have a large jar, so I used the individual serving packets. It fits 5 servings)

8. Hot glue some buttons on it...and Hot Glue your Marshmallow Jar to the top of the Cocoa jar.

9. Use up some ribbon or Scrap Fabric for the scarf! (I just cut the ends for "fringe")

***EXTRA BONUS TIP: Amy also suggested adding a third jar to the bottom full of peppermint candies. Alas, there's no running to the store while I'm blogging during nap-time, so you'll have to imagine it for me!
Dump out your freshly made dough onto parchment paper or Silpat and cover with a damp cloth until it is cool enough to handle. *Keep a damp cloth on unused dough to keep it moist while sculpting.*

3. To make the starfish, take the 5 balls and use your thumb and pointer finger to shape and flatten into triangles. Take the triangles and combine them together, pinching the edges on both the front and back into the shape of a starfish. *Very important to smooth out the edges where the pieces connect or you will get seams and lots of cracks.* The circles were used to make sand dollars.
4. Start to decorate your starfish. (some have used the round end of a pin and the end of paint brushes to make decorations on the starfish)
While the shapes are cooling, place newspaper or some type of covering on your table surface to protect it from the paint. Then, get creative and start painting!

Supplies

2 car tires and one larger truck tire

2 small tires with rims (from cart, wheelbarrow, or mower).

4 plastic bowls

Tire inner tube

Garden hose

Recycled rubber doormat

Lid from a broken storage tote

Duco Cement

Silicon caulk (paintable)

Spray paint – green and white

Brush paint – Red and blue

Tools:

Power drill with ½” bit

Utility knife

Scissors

Paint brushes

Q-tips

2x6x8 piece of treated lumber

3” deck screws

Long galvanized nails

Instructions

1. Clean tires and let dry.

2. Select which side of the large tires will be down. Drill 4-6 holes in that side of each tire to allow excess water to drain.
3. Cut storage tote lid about 1-2” bigger than largest tire
opening. Poke 3-4 holes in it for drainage, and work it into the tire
to cover the bottom hole.
4. Use utility knife to cut 4 feet from rubber door mat. I drew the first with a silver Sharpie and cut it out, then used it as a template to make the others match.
5. Lay all the tires, feet, hose, and 2 of the bowls out on drop cloth and start painting! I used Valspar flat spray paint/primer-in-one, in “Tropical Foliage” color. It took about 5 cans. I didn’t paint the underside, since they wouldn’t be visible.
6. Paint the other two bowls white – I used Rustoleum flat white. Once dry, paint the bottom of these two blue.
7. Using Duco cement, glue the bowls into the rims of the
small tires. The white bowls are the eyeballs, and the green ones on
the back give the eyes a bulgy look from behind.
8. Spread a bead of silicon caulk on joint of bowls and rims.
Once it dries, touch up the paint. Spray the caulked part on the back
of the eyes. To touch up the front, I spray paint onto a piece of wax
paper or foil and use a Q-tip as a brush.
9. For eyelashes, cut a wedge-shaped section of inner tube, then
use scissors to make cut from the inner edge to about 1-1/2” from outer
edge. Use Duco Cement to glue into the space between the tire and the
rim.
10. Using red paint and brush, add mouth to largest tire.
11. Now the slightly tricky part – making the eyes stable in their mounting. First, set the eyes on the “head” tire and cut two slits in the large tire with a utility knife. This allows the eyes to sit down into the tire a bit.
12. Insert the piece of lumber into the head tire under where
the eyes will sit. Install deck screws at an angle through eye tire,
head tire, and into lumber. Do this with both eyes. They will have a
little wobble to them, but not much. Later, when this tire is
filled, stability gets even better.
13. Put it all together! Lay the 2 body tires side-by-side on the ground. Fill them to within an inch of the inner circle with soil.
14. Place head tire on body tires, centered and pulled forward a couple inches.
15. Lift head slightly and slip one end of arm hose on each side, between tires.

a. Cut off arms to length and secure to ground with galvanized nails as mini-stakes.

b. Place feet in position, and use nails again to hold in place.

16. Fill top tire with soil to within an inch of the inner edge height.
17. Plant with flowers of choice. I chose to use perennial
daylilies in the bottom tires, and annuals in the top, so I don’t have
to replant more than one each year.
This is how I did it, but if you make one, let your imagination go out and play … get silly or get serious, but make it YOURS!
Finally, and most important, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your interest in Frieda La Frog.
I’ve told her how popular she’s become, and I’m a little worried …
she’s demanding an entourage, Ray-Bans, and one of those silly little
purse-sized dogs …
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">‘Soft as a Cloud’ Playdough…using only 2 ingredients!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">All you need is:
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1 part conditioner
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">2 parts corn flour/corn starch
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Food coloring (optional)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">That’s it!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 1
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Pour your conditioner into a bowl (we used a home brand conditioner – note that not all conditioners are of the same consistency so you may need to add a little more or a little less corn flour to get the right consistency for you)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 2
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Pour in the corn flour/starch
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 3
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Give the mixture a good stir
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 4 (optional)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Add a few drops of food coloring
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 5
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Mix well using your hands. This part smells delicious!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Step 6
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Have FUN molding, squishing, shaping and playing with your new *Playdough*!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Supplies/Ingredients:

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">3 sheets of A4 paper

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">wood glue

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Directions:

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Take 3 sheets of A4 paper. Fold them in half (try to be precise) and then unfold.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Cut the sheets along the line of folding. You’ll get six smaller sheets of paper in total.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Take those six sheets and fold each one like this: take a short side and fold it up against a long side to make a triangle of sorts. Cut the bottom rectangle off to make a perfect square. (In other words, cut each of the 6 smaller sheets into perfect squares.)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Fold all squares diagonally.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Measure off 3 segments (each is 2 cm/0.8 inch long) on the longer edge of the triangle. Start from left corner. (Mark at 2 cm, 4 cm, and 6 cm.)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Now, fold you(r) triangle into a smaller one, with the measured segments side facing you. (Fold in half.)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Draw cutting lines parallel to the diagonal edge (the long side) of the triangle (use marked points).
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Mark a point in 1cm/ 0.4 inch distance from side edge of the triangle.
Draw a guiding line parallel to this side of the triangle.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Make diagonal cuts along your guiding lines. Cut only to the distance line. (1 cm from the other short edge of the triangle.)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Erase all guiding lines.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Are you done with cutting? Let’s go back to the square! Unfold your triangle twice.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Time for rolling! Take two innermost paper points together to form a
tube. Stick them together with a glue (put a little bit only on the
corners).
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Flip the whole thing to the other side.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Take the next two paper points and pull them on the opposite side of the first tube. Stick them with the glue as before.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Repeat the procedure with flipping the paper and joining the paper
points together on opposite sides until all paper points have been
joined.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Yay! One of your six basic pieces is ready. Repeat all the steps with the other triangles.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Now, after you’ve prepared five other pieces, join three of them together at the top with a glue.
You’ll get two, three-armed pieces.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It’s time to staple together previously joined two pieces.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">You’re almost done :) Now you just need to staple together every pair of arms.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">You’ve made it!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I cut the fall colored tissue paper into several pieces. I also cut
out turkey templates – the turkey and tail feathers outline. You could

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">To make the tail feathers outline, I folded my brown cardstock paper
in half. The paper I used was a 12×12. You could use a 8.5×11. I placed
the template on the folded paper. The dotted lines of the template go on
the fold.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I traced the template onto the paper. I cut out the pattern. I then cut
into this pattern piece to create the outline. You could make the
outline as thick or thin as you like. ... I unfolded the paper.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I then placed the tail feathers outline on the sticky side of a piece of
contact paper. My kids decorated their turkeys by placing pieces of
tissue paper within the turkey feathers outline.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I placed another piece of contact paper (sticky side down) on top of the finished turkey. I smoothed it out.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I turned it over so I could see the outline.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I cut the excess contact paper.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">My kids glued the turkey’s body in the middle of the feathers.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">They then glued the googly eyes, wattle and beak. Our cute turkeys are done.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">They look beautiful on our window. Look at the glorious fall colors shining through the tissue paper feathers of the turkey.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">How cute are these to make with the little ones?!!!!!!!!!!!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">For this craft, you'll need:
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">a pair of old socks that are crew length,
or longer,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">rice,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">rubber bands,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">map pins with heads,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">buttons,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">any left
over fabric, if you want for a scarf.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">F<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">irst, cut off the top of the sock
from the foot.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Turn the sock inside out and attach a rubber band
tightly to the top of the sock.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Then turn the sock right-side
out again.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Fill the sock with rice. Make sure to pack it down as you
go so the sock gets a nice round base.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Rubber band the top of the sock
closed and put another rubber band 3/4 of the way to the top for the
head of your snowman.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Now, decorate!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Tie a scarf around your snowman's
neck and add eyes, nose, and buttons.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Use the toe of your cut socks to
fashion a stocking cap.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Or you could use colored argyle socks to create
hats and sweaters for your snowman.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">You can either sew or glue on your
buttons, and add embellishments - twine, bows, ribbons, etc - as needed.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">This is such a quick and easy craft - 10 minutes tops - that it would
be simple to create a whole family of snowmen for your mantle!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Revitalizing Cucumber Toner

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">This toner is very mild and is supposed to work well for all skin
types. Cucumber is great for soothing and softening skin because it has
the same pH as healthy skin.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">If you
wake up feeling like your face is a little puffy, try using this toner,
it's really refreshing and should help to calm and tighten your skin.
It's mild enough to use everyday.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1/2 cucumber with peel, chopped
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">3 tablespoons witch hazel
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">2 tablespoons distilled water
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Put all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend
until smooth. I poured the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove
all of the solids and used the back of a spoon to mush down what was
left in the sieve. There was very little wastage. Discard what is left
over in the sieve.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Pour the toner into a clean bottle with a
tight-fitting lid. Store this toner in the refrigerator for a longer

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">step 1: in bowl 1 – mix together the cold water, glue, and food coloring. set aside.
step 2: in bowl 2 – mix together the hot water and borax, until the borax is completely dissolved.
step 3: slowly add glue mixture to borax mixture. mix well. pour off excess water.
Store in an airtight container and have some fun!
